2023 Megawatt Scholarship Recipient, Emily Ernst

When you see wind turbines, think scholarships! For each turbine installed as part of a Wind for Industry® project with One Energy, Megawatt Scholarship partners are giving back to our local communities. One Energy sponsors one $5,000 scholarship per turbine at a customer’s facility – every year the turbine operates. To date, 125 scholarships have been awarded to outstanding area students – and with 20-year turbine lifetimes, we’re just getting started.

Current participating customers and hosts of Megawatt Scholarship turbines:

Graduating high school seniors* residing in the communities surrounding these companies’ turbines and seeking a two-year or four-year degree in science, engineering, technology, or math (STEM) at an accredited university are eligible to apply. These Wind for Industry® project customers create the specific application criteria, select the qualified candidates, and award the recipients each spring. In addition to the one-time $5,000 award, recipients are recognized with their names permanently displayed on a turbine at the company’s facility.

This scholarship program is a part of One Energy’s commitment to being good corporate citizens and building lasting relationships with our customers as well as with the communities where we operate. One Energy and Wind for Industry® customers encourage education in the technologies and industries of the future and wish all applicants the best of luck.
